In recent years, there has been a lot of improvement in the functionality and comfort of braces. Even so, occasionally there are still problems. Some of these problems can include wires sticking out, broken brackets or wires or loose bands or brackets.

If you experience any of these problems, call our team. We can be reached at 303.371.0371. That way, we can discuss the proper course of action to take.

Sometimes you will need to come in as soon as possible for adjustments or repairs; other times we can instruct you how to fix it yourself or wait for the next appointment. This will mainly depend on if you are experiencing discomfort and whether the problem could interfere with your treatment plan. If neither of those things occur, your dentist may hold off on treatment until your next appointment.

It is important to call immediately after your braces break, as some problems can interfere with treatment. If you were injured and that’s what caused the damage, it is vital that you seek help right away. Dr. Nathan Helm will let you know what immediate action needs to be taken and instruct you on it. It may be that the problem can wait, but it is important to check and make sure your smile stays strong.

No matter what our team needs to do–adjust, re-attach, reposition or replace wires or brackets–it will take some time. Make sure you call the office before your appointment to explain the situation, so that we schedule enough time in your appointment to fix the problem.

If you have damaged your braces and you are in the Denver, Colorado area, call Helm Orthodontics to talk with Dr. Nathan Helm about your treatment options, and to schedule an appointment with our team.
